Previously, Rosemary worked as a senior news anchor and journalist for ABC Australia in Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia. Together with her colleague, Nick Paton Walsh, and Phil Black, the three won the prestigious Golden Nymph award in 2014 for Best 24-Hour News Programme at the Monte Carlo Television Festival. This was a result of their coverage of unrest in Ukraine.

The unrest involved a deadly shooting in Kiev’s Independence Square during anti-government protests. In addition, they also won the Best Short News Report category at the Association for International Broadcasting (AIB) awards for the same coverage.
